Blown-In Insulation Warmth For Your House

A non-invasive way to add insulation to a finished home is to blow it up. This is a process in which bulk material is pumped into an existing wall using a hose through a small hole in the wall. Blown-in insulation is most often used on ceilings, in and around ceiling beams.

You can do this yourself, but it is highly recommended that you hire an experienced contractor for this job. You can get the best information about blown-in insulation via

Depending on your personal needs and preferences, there are different types of insulation to choose from:

Foam: This foam has a higher R-value than most insulation and is an effective insect repellent, but can shrink and form cavities. In some cases, it can expand and cause the walls or nails to bend.

It must be installed by a licensed contractor to ensure that the job is done properly. If you choose to use spray foam, make sure you know what you're getting.

Cellulose: This is perhaps the most common type of insulation due to its environmental properties. The material consists of recycled newsprint that has been given a fire retardant.

Blown-in insulation is very affordable. Depending on the choice of material, the price varies between 60 and 90 cents per square foot. Depending on the job, there may be additional costs for drilling and painting.
